Anthem 2012 Certification Update – AHIP Rules

AHIP Certification:

• The 2012 AHIP Certification is currently available and is applicable to both 2011 and 2012 certification
• Please keep in mind that an agent must complete the required product training modules for 2011 (in addition to AHIP) if they wish to sell 2011 products
• The agent will also need to complete 2012 product modules when they become available in order to sell 2012 products, but they will not need to repeat AHIP if they took the new version on or after 6/16/11
• In order to obtain the reduced rate for AHIP, agents must go through the WellPoint Medicare Certification site.  This can be accessed via the broker portals for all external agents / brokers

Product Training Modules

• 2012 Product Certification will be available July 15, 2011
• The amount of training modules has decreased from 27 last year to no more than 8 this year
• The agent certification notices providing login information and instructions will be provided on or around July 14, 2011

The Bottom line is that if you are newly appointed to Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (which many of you are), you only have to do 2012 AHIP and that will allow you to sell both this year and next year.
